A remarkable tribute to the iconic women of Thakurbari and women characters in Rabindra literature staged in Dhaka through a rhythmic fusion of song, dance, and fashion.
The exceptional event, titled "Nabo Anande Jago," was held on Thursday evening at a hotel in Gulshan, ahead of the 165th birth anniversary of the Nobel laureate. Jointly organized by the Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh (FDCB), the High Commission of India in Bangladesh, and the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), the program continued from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

The beloved literary characters became alive when Ripa performed as Labonya of Shesher Kabita, Ila as Bimala of Ghare-Baire, Rifat as Sucharita of Gora, Sanjida as Charulata of Noshtonid, Runi as Giribala, and Babli as Nandini (Raktakarabi). Sadia portrayed Mrinalini Devi, while the protagonists of Tagore’s famous dance dramas were embodied by Saba (Shyama), Antara (Chitrangada) and Sushmita (Chandalika). Additionally, Samina Hussain Prema delivered a captivating dance performance based on Bhanusingher Padavali.

The presentation also honored the women of the Tagore family who shaped Bengali culture, including Kadambari Devi, Gyanadanandini Devi, Swarnakumari Devi, Sarala Devi, Indira Devi, Mrinalini Devi, Madhurilata, Renuka, and Mira Devi.
The evening featured soulful Rabindra Sangeet performances by Swapnil Sajeeb, Farhin Khan Joyeeta, Mahua Manjuri, and Semanti Manjuri. Tropa Majumdar and Ashiqul Islam provided evocative poetry recitations and commentary.

This event marked a unique addition to the world of fashion shows by meticulously recreating the attire, styles, and distinct personalities of the Tagore era. From the stage décor to the period-accurate styling, the program was a seamless union of Bengali melody, literature, and tradition.
