Import- Export trade between the two countries remained closed through Benapole port on Saturday.

However, only Hilsa fish was exported from Bangladesh to India through the Port during that time.

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi's 152nd birthday, there was a public holiday in India.

As a result, thousands of trucks are stuck on both sides due to the day-off in Petrapole side.

Thousands of trucks carrying goods were stranded in various parts of the country due to the suspension of import and export.

Most of which are raw materials of Bangladesh's 100% export oriented garments industry.

Kartik Chandra, general secretary of the Staff Welfare Association of Petrapole Port on the other side, said, ‘Import-Export trade between Bangladesh and India has closed as we have a public holiday on the occasion of the 152nd birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.

Import and export trade will continue at normal start from Sunday morning.’
