Rangpur division recorded 28.22 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 103 fresh cases were diagnosed after testing 365 samples at two laboratories in the division on Wednesday.
Health officials said the pandemic situation is showing a stable trend during the last couple of days as community spread of the lethal virus is becoming weaker in the division.
Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 27.07 percent on Tuesday 33.05 percent on Monday, 31.73 percent on Sunday, 36.90 percent on Saturday, 26.10 percent on Friday and 38.80 percent on Thursday last in the division. Among the 103 new patients, 52 were reported positive after testing 177 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the 29.38 percent positivity rate Wednesday. "The 52 new patients include 32 from Rangpur, 15 from Lalmonirhat, three from Gaibandha, one each from Kurigram and Nilphamari districts," said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. Bimal Chandra Roy.
On the other hand, 51 new patients were reported positive after testing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the 27.13 percent positivity rate on Wednesday.
"The 51 new patients include 31 from Dinajpur, 15 from Nilphamari, four from Panchagarh and one from Thakurgaon districts," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.
Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam said that the total number of Covid-19 patients reached 62,385 as 103 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
"The district-wise break up of total 62,385 patients include 14,527 in Rangpur, 4,269 in Panchagarh, 5,259 in Nilphamari, 3,143 in Lalmonirhat, 4,898 in Kurigram, 8,453 in Thakurgaon, 16,480 in Dinajpur and 5,356 in Gaibandha in the division," he added.
