A new ‘Matrix Resurrections’ trailer arrives teasing the return of Agent Smith in the action sci-fi sequel and revealing Neo's new powers. The latest installment in the sci-fi action franchise sees the return of original writer/director Lana Wachowski to the helm with a script she co-wrote with David Mitchell and Aleksandar Hemon. Wachowski had declined development on a fourth installment in The Matrix franchise for years following the release of ‘The Matrix Revolutions’, with her and her co-writer/co-director sister Lilly intending it to close out a trilogy until she would finally bring a pitch to Warner Bros.

The ‘Matrix Resurrections’ takes place 20 years after the events of its predecessor as Neo is once again alive and plugged back into the virtual world, living a seemingly normal life as Thomas A. Anderson in San Francisco. However, when a chance reunion with a similarly amnesiac Trinity and a red pill-offering Morpheus reopens his eyes to the reality of the titular universe, Neo must regain who he was and resume the fight to save humanity. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss return to lead the cast of ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ alongside fellow franchise vets Jada Pinkett Smith, Daniel Bernhardt and Lambert Wilson and newcomers Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Christina Ricci.

With less than a month remaining until the film's arrival, Warner Bros. has released a new Matrix Resurrections trailer. The video teases the return of Agent Smith with Groff's mysterious character and reveals Neo's new powers in his mission to save Trinity.

The new ‘Matrix Resurrections’ trailer is jam-packed full of answers regarding the film's plot as well as plenty of teases for answers to other fan questions. The biggest reveal in the new trailer is how Trinity is still alive following her death in ‘The Matrix Revolutions’, with clear shots of her encased in an isolated life pod.     Collider

As seen in previous ‘Matrix Resurrections’ footage, this is seemingly also how Neo is revived following his seeming death in the third film, though given the danger they pose when together, it seems likely the machines have chosen to separate the two.
