Mazar set up on livestock office premises at Lakhai

Cemetery or Majar has been established by a local youngman in the land of Lakhai upazila Livestock Office premises of Habiganj. 

Claiming the place belonged to a grave of an ancient saint, the Youngman has occupied the space of the Livestock Office by hoisting some flags and regularly torching candlelights there. 

Local people, however, said there was no grave anytime on the spot. Even after the order from the local administration to refrain him from doing such act, the Youngman has been continuing his activities. 

According to sources, the Livestock office of Lakhai upazila is situated inside the Upazila Parishad complex. A Youngman of neighbouring Katihara village built a 'grave' like structure inside the boundary wall of the Livestock office some five-year ago and hangs flags of various colours there. He regularly torches candlesticks there, stays a long time and observes religious functions on the spot. Even after being prohibited by the office staff, he is continuing such acts.

Quoting local elderly people, Officials of Livestock department informed, there was no grave or cemetery on the spot any time. The Youngman has established the cemetery there with the concocted claim. Even after keeping the maingate of the office closed, the Youngman was entering the compound by toppling the wall. The activities of the Youngman was hampering the activities of the office. 

Dr. Abu Hanif, Upazila Livestock Officer informed, he has talked with the local people who informed there was no grave on the spot any time but the youngman was causing trouble by forcefully establishing a grave inside the government office compound. 

It the maingate of the office is kept closed, he (youngman) continued to hit the iron grill of the gate with a sharp weapon. He further said, the issue has been raised to the Upazial Co-ordination meeting. The identities of the Youngman has not yet been confirmed and process was underway to handover the youngman to police. 

Lucikant Hajong, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Lakhai upazila informed, he has heard the incident and necessary action will be taken in this connection after inspection.
