Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has decided to join a series of political rallies and campaigns being organized by her party’s leaders, activists and supporters in a bid to drum up more support ahead of the next parliamentary election.

From now on, she would be joining at different rallies or mass gatherings across the country to inform public about the continuous development under her strong leadership and make people aware of the anti-government activities planted by vested quarters, who had been opposing country’s independence and the War of Liberation.

Most popular political leader of the country, Sheikh Hasina would also address the mass gathering to inform countrymen about the necessity of her continuous leadership for the welfare and development of the country and its people as well.

As part of her decision, Sheikh Hasina is addressing a public rally today (Thursday) at Jashore stadium organized by the local Awami League.

It should be mentioned that the Prime Minister avoided public gathering for last two years due to COVID-19 pandemic. During the period, she joined almost all the programmes virtually through video conferences.

But, since the pandemic is almost over, she has decided to come out again and continue attending public rallies in person.

Sheikh Hasina, however, earlier on November 11 had attended a mass gathering held at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in capital Dhaka on the occasion of the 50th founding anniversary of Jubo League, the youth forum of the ruling party.

According to sources, after the mass gathering at Jashore, she would attend another mass gathering at Chattogram Pologround on December 4 and Cox’s Bazar Sheikh Kamal Cricket Stadium on December 7.

Besides, before the next 12th National Parliament elections, Sheikh Hasina is expected to visit all the 64 districts across the country where mass gathering would also be held.

Expecting the arrival of the Awami League President, also the Prime Minister, Jashore has a festive look while people of all walks of life as well as leaders and activists of AL show great enthusiasm.

The AL leaders said that the news of Sheikh Hasina’s attendance in the Jashore rally today have substantially energized the supporters and the leaders.

Talking to the reporters at the Jashore stadium, AL Presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak hoped that no people in Jashore and its adjacent districts will remain at home. He expects most of the people in the region to attend the mass gathering.

He said, "Everywhere you look in Jashore you would find evidences of social and infrastructural development. In the past the region was a breeding ground for terrorists."

Nanak said, "Jashore town will be turned into human sea at the rally where AL intends to send messages to the evil forces of BNP and Jamaat and their allies that AL enjoys such mammoth support because people understand the development works done by the ruling party," he said.

Meanwhile, the leaders and activists of AL and its associate organizations are in the final stages of preparation and they are carrying out loudspeaker miking and campaigning ahead of the public meeting of the premier who is attending such a rally outside Dhaka after nearly three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Colourful arches and gates decorate various roads of the town with the posters and banners of Prime Minister. Leaders have hung banners, balloons, festoons and posters welcoming the Prime Minister and the party chief in various areas including Daratana More, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Garibshah Roads and other areas.

AL leaders said that the Prime Minister in the recent party forum meeting expressed her intention to give more time to the party from now on. The AL chief plans to visit different districts in phages before the 12th National Election. As part of this, the first public meeting is being held at Jashore Stadium.

They said in Jashore stadium, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had addressed a public meeting on December 26, 1972. His elder daughter Sheikh Hasina will address the public meeting in the same venue after 50 years. A public meeting stage is being built there in the shape of a boat.

Five years ago, Sheikh Hasina addressed the election rally at Jessore Eidgah ground on December 31, 2017.

AL Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim told reporters that all preparations for Sheikh Hasina's public rally in Jashore have been completed and people of all strata here are ready to receive her.

He said that the AL chief is taking part at the public rally outside Dhaka after 27 months due to the Corona virus outbreak and will deliver her directives to steer the country ahead.

"The rally would issue message against conspiracy as well as terrorism being perpetrated by the BNP and Jamaat," he said, adding that people will also demonstrate their position that they also favour the spirits of Liberation War.
