JU students achieve ‘break status’ in int’l debate competition

Muntasir Mansur of Jahangirnagar University’s (JU) English Department and Farha Mehezabeen of Finance and Banking Department for the first time has received the ‘break status’ in the “Shanghai-SIDO-Hanoi ABP 2021” debate tournament, the biggest debate tournament in Asia, in the EFL (English as Foreign Language)  category.

The tournament is organized by the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics of China.

180 teams from Asia participated in the tournament while Muntasir and Mehezabeen achieved the ‘break status’, got selection for the next round, along with the other 23 teams.  

Muntasir Mansur, a second-year student of English department, said, “I am happy with what we have achieved so far. Very proud to represent JU in such a platform.”

Mentionable, Muntasir and Mehezabeen are working with Jahangirnagar University Debating Society (JUDS) as assistantcoordinator. They will participate in the Partia Quarter-Final on October 29.
