School students aged 12 to 17 will be vaccinated against Coronavirus from November 1, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque.

He told this to reporters at the secretariat after the cabinet meeting on Thursday. The minister said students in Dhaka will be vaccinated first and therefore, 12 centers have been set up.

“Arrangements will be made to vaccinate school children in every district. 21 centers have been identified across the country and the number of centers will be further increased. 40,000 students will be vaccinated every day. Immunization of others will also keep ongoing along with school children,” he asserted.

Zahid Maleque said “Sufficient amount of vaccines are available. The school students will be vaccinated with Pfizer. The Ministry of Education has already made a list for vaccination. These lists have been given to the ICT Ministry. They have uploaded that list to the ‘Surokkha’ app.”

Mentioning that the government has 20 million doses of corona vaccine at present, the health minister said another 4.5 million vaccines will come in November.

Earlier on October 14, on a trial run, 120 students of some schools in Manikganj were given the first dose of Pfizer vaccine. They have been kept under observation for 10 to 14 days.
