The authorities concerned should repair and modernise the railway tracks and bridges to make rail journeys safer, better and faster immediately. Besides, crossing of tracks by pedestrians through unauthorised level-crossings must be stopped while deployment of gatemen at all level-crossings across the country will have to be ensured round the clock.
Reportedly, at least 13 rail bridges with 'Dead Stop' signs are being used over 179 kilometres on Sylhet-Akhaura route, putting the lives of passengers at risks. On the other hand, rail communication between Dhaka and Chattogram remained suspended as three compartments of freight train derailed at Tongi in Gazipur on Tuesday morning.

We are concerned over frequent train derailment incident and accident across the country as many people die and receive serious injuries. It has been noticed that lack of awareness and poor maintenance and monitoring at level-crossings, including railway bridges, continue causing the accidents. Besides, using mobile phones by pedestrians while crossing rail track, is also causing the tragic death.
Also, dilapidated condition of the railway tracks, faulty interlocking and signaling system are causing frequent train derailment and even deadly accidents. We hope the railway authorities will do the needful to ensure safety of rail passengers and passerby. Authorities concerned should take necessary steps to repair the dilapidated railway tracks.
The government is working to establish a rail network across the country for providing transportation to people and goods at a cheaper rate. Therefore, the railway authority should inspect, repair and maintain railway tracks to keep the trains running smoothly and safely. Also, proper training will have to be provided to the rail staffs to put an end to the train mishaps.
