President Md Abdul Hamid on Sunday asked the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to take steps so that the corrupt individuals are punished properly. He also called upon the authorities concerned of different educational institutions, society and family to take necessary initiatives so that the young generation can grow up with anti-corruption attitude. We hope following the president's order, the ACC will intensify its drive and take stringent action against those involved in corruption.  We believe there is no alternative to making the country free from all sorts of corruption and all the government and non-government organisations should come forward and work together to attain the cherished goal.

People from all walks of life will also have to work to build

a corruption-free country through

 forging social resistance against the

corruption

It is worth mentioning that the commission's regular activities had been suspended due to coronavirus pandemic for a long time. We think as the Covid-19 pandemic situation has improved, the ACC will conduct its drive, file cases, arrest suspects, summon the accused and interrogate them. It is very crucial to prevent corruption to make the country’s ongoing development work trend sustainable.

Apart from the national anti-graft watchdog, people from all walks of life will also have to work to build a corruption-free country through forging social resistance against the corruption. Our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had said corruption must be stopped... farmers and labourers are not involved in corruption, but educated people indulge in corruption. And he also had asked public servants to remain honest. However, we think participation of the community and the young generation in order to build an anti-corruption campaign is a must right now. In this regard, the community and the young generation will have to be empowered so that they can raise their voice against corruption.

Both the government and non-government service-delivery activities must maintain transparency and accountability to prevent corruption from within. Also, the ACC should continue its surprise drive across the country to improve overall services of the service sectors and eliminate irregularities from their management.
