Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-1) arrested Md Monir alias 'Shosha Monir', the ringleader of the city's dope gang, on Sunday from Diabari area under Turag police station.
Assistant Police Super (Ops Officer of (RAB-1) Noman Ahmad confirmed the matter to BSS saying that, "On secret information, a team of RAB-1 conducted a drive and arrested Monir, who had been a fugitive for nine years, from Diabari Metrorail Station-1 area."
Preliminary interrogation revealed that he was the leader of a dope gang in the capital.
A warrant was issued against him nine years ago in a case lodged in Gobindaganj Police Station in Gaibandha district.
There are several cases against him in Mymensingh and Dhaka over murder, snatching and theft, the RAB-1 official said.
