Cox’s Bazaar packed with holidayers

Cox’s Bazaar sea beach, the world’s longest sea beach and the country’s one of the hottest tourist spots, is now overflowed with tourists from different parts of the country.

The sea beach has been witnessing an increased flow of tourists since middle of December, but the flow reached its peak from December 25 as the holidaymakers are thronging the sandy beaches to enjoy leisure on the occasion of Christmas Day and weekly holiday.  Many of the visitors reached there with family members. All the hotels and rest-houses have been booked out. About 450 hotels have been booked in advance.

The authorities concerned have taken special measures to ensure security. The mobile courts of district administration are working in this regard. Tourist police and district police have also been deployed to ensure security.

Christmas Day is a public holiday. However, the weekly holiday-- Friday and Saturday-- has been added with the Christmas Day. Although Thursday was not holiday, many service holders managed their offices to visit Cox’s Bazaar and other tourist spots in the country.   Visiting the sea beach, it was seen that the tourists are enjoying at the longest sandy beach. Various vehicles, including tourists’ buses, have been arriving in Cox’s Bazaar since Wednesday morning.

 Nahian and his wife Zakia came here from Dumuria in Khulna. The tourist couple said that both of them are service holders and they managed their offices for Thursday to visit Cox’s Bazaar. They booked their hotel room through a friend in advance. Rafiqul Islam, who came from Balaganj in Sylhet, said that he had to pay extra for getting a hotel room in Cox’s Bazaar.

Roni, who comes from Mohammadpur in Dhaka, said that he is enjoying holiday properly as Cox’s Bazar sea beach is the nice place for people of Dhaka and other parts of the country to relax. Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Nirupan Roy, who came here from Faridpur, said, “I have been trying to visit Cox’s Bazaar since beginning of the year, but I could not find any time. At last I came here with my family members. I am very happy.”

Mottaleb, who comes from Rauzan in Chattogram, said that the restaurants in Cox’s Bazaar town and sea beach area are charging extra food prices. Vice President of Cox’s Bazar Restaurant Owners Association Qasim Ali said, “We always serve for the tourists. It any tourist wants pay more money, we welcome them.” Abu Taleb Shah, AGM of Hotel The Cox Today, said their hotel rooms were booked in the beginning of December. Harunur Rashid of Hotel Seagal said, “Alongside our hotel, more than 450 hotels in Cox's Bazaar are booked in advance.”

SM Kibria, founding president of the Tour Operators’ Association ‘TUAC’, told the Bangladesh Post that that no hotel rooms and ticket of ships and vehicles are empty. This trend will continue till December 31. The sandy beaches and nearby places have become busy spots for tourists.

Alongside the Cox's Bazar sea beach, Bangabandhu Safari Park, Himchhari, Doryanagar, Adinath Temple and Inani beach are also busy with tourists. Superintendent of Police (SP) of Cox’s Bazaar ABM Masud Hossain and SP of Tourist Police Zillur Rahman they are working for safety of tourists. Deputy Commissioner Md. Kamal Hossain told the Bangladesh Post that they are monitoring all the sports so that the tourists are not harassed.
