A team of 75 members of the Bangladesh Navy left Chattogram's Shah Amanat International Airport on Friday to participate in the UN peacekeeping mission’s Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

These naval personnel will join the Navy warship 'Sangram' deployed in Lebanon under Bangladesh Navy Contingent 'Bancon-14'.  While leaving the airport, Commander Chattogram Naval Region Chief Staff Officer Captain Md. Jamal Uddin Chowdhury bade farewell to the naval personnel going to Lebanon.

Earlier, Regional Commander of Chattogram Naval Region, Rear Admiral Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury BanoujaIssa Khan, officially bid farewell to the navy members going to Lebanon. For the purpose of Lebanon, all naval members should work together to improve the image of Bangladesh Navy and the country in the international environment through honesty, dedication and professional skills.

It is known that Bangladesh Navy warships have been participating in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon since 2010 due to the concerted efforts of the current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

As a member of the Multinational Maritime Task Force in the Mediterranean Sea of Lebanon, the only warship of the Bangladesh Navy in the subcontinent is engaged in establishing world peace.

The currently deployed Navy warship 'Sangram' is working efficiently to counter the infiltration of illegal arms and ammunition into Lebanese territory. In addition, the ship is conducting maritime interdiction operations in Lebanese waters, monitoring suspicious ships and aircraft, rescue operations on accident ships and providing necessary training to Lebanese military members, providing regular treatment to Bangladeshis living in Lebanon.

The sincerity, dedication and efficiency of the naval personnel of Bangladesh in Lebanon is enhancing the country's image and reputation in the international arena.
