Despite the loud sounds of gunfire and explosions being heard across the Myanmar border in the east and south of Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar, no major gunfire was heard from last Saturday night till this morning.
Palongkhali of Ghundhum Ukhiya of Naikangchari border and Hoikong border of Teknaf upazila are also calm. Residents of the border areas said that the sound of gunfire could be heard from the border far into Myanmar, but they were not as loud as it was a few days ago.
Meanwhile, it is reported that five Rohingyas who came through Teknaf's Shahpari Island jetty on Saturday afternoon are still in BGB custody.
Five Rohingyas are trying to infiltrate through the Shahporir dwip border in Teknaf in a boat at 5 pm on Saturday. BGB members have detained them in river Naf. A woman among the Rohingya who tried to infiltrate was reported to have been shot.
A local resident of the area
adjacent to Naf river in Shahporir dwip said that one of the 5 people in the boat is a woman and the other 4 are men. The woman was shot. BGB members have surrounded the boat. The BGB has said they will send them back to Myanmar at any time but has not officially said anything.
