Bangladesh registered three deaths from Covid-19 in 24 hours till 8am Sunday. This takes the total number of deaths to 27,978. The current positivity rate stands at 1.03pc.
Although the daily deaths have seen minor fluctuations, the overall number of cases remains significantly low for last few days.
According to experts, the Covid-19 situation in a country can be claimed to be under control if the infection rate remains under 5pc for two consecutive weeks. Bangladesh has successfully achieved that feat over two months ago.
The country recorded 205 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,575,784, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday.
The death rate now stands at 1.78 pc in the country, as per the press release. Around 19,811 samples were tested during this time.
Of the three deceased, two were men and one was woman; two were from Dhaka and one from Khulna division.
Around 299 people recovered from the virus during the time. Up until now, a total of 1,540,317 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 97.75 pc.
As of Sunday, 5,215,142 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 261,477,973 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
