Zero tolerance to corruption in Eastern Railway: GM

Newly-appointed General Manager of Eastern Railway Jahangir Hossain said he will follow a zero-tolerance policy to prevent irregularities and corruption in the Eastern Railway. 

Jahangir made the remarks while joining his office on Monday a day after the Railways ministry made hi the General Manager of Eastern Railway on Sunday. 

Jahangir said he have been working in railways for a long time and knows that irregularities and corruption take place. With cooperation from all, zero tolerance policy will be effective in preventing these irregularities and corruption, he added. 

He said that he will be vigilant to prevent corruption in recruitment in the railways and floating tendering will be monitored.

The government is sincere to stop black market ticket sale and working to build a passenger-friendly railway. A special team will be formed and monitoring will be strengthened to prevent sale of tickets in black market, he added.
