Chattogram District Superintendent of Police (SP) Masud Alam said that the district police will follow a zero-tolerance policy against drugs, terrorism, extortion, and kidnapping. He said, police are working in a planned manner to improve the law and order situation, especially in Raozan, South Chattogram, and Jungle Salimpur areas.

He made these remarks during an exchange meeting with journalists held on Sunday at the conference room of the Chattogram District Police Superintendent’s Office at Solashahar in Chattogram.

During the meeting, SP said police have already started working to control crimes such as targeted killings, terrorism, and extortion in Raozan and surrounding areas. However, operations will be conducted strategically after properly understanding the situation on the ground.

“We must first understand the internal dynamics. Conducting rushed operations without proper assessment may lead to mistakes,” he said.

Regarding Jungle Salimpur, SP Masud Alam said two police academies will be established there under the government’s development plan. He mentioned that the area has already come under effective control of law enforcement agencies following joint force operations.

“Jungle Salimpur will no longer be allowed to exist as a state within a state,” he added.

SP Masud said he had heard various negative stories and reports about Jungle Salimpur even before taking charge. In the past, incidents involving the killing of law enforcement personnel in the area had drawn widespread attention. However, recent security operations and surveillance measures have significantly improved the situation.

He said informed that temporary police camps have already been set up in two schools in the area to ensure a permanent police presence, while work on permanent infrastructure is also progressing.

SP Masud Alam said, the establishment of a Police Training Center and Police Academy in Jungle Salimpur will contribute not only to infrastructural development but also to long-term improvement in law and order.

Praising the role of the media, he said that in the era of social media, information spreads rapidly. Therefore, police will try to provide information on important operations and incidents to the media as quickly as possible. He also emphasized the importance of responsible and objective journalism in building public trust.

Expressing concern over the drug situation, the SP said yaba enters different parts of the country through the Cox’s Bazar–Myanmar border route, and Chattogram is a major transit point. As a result, anti-drug operations will be intensified further.

He also spoke about security measures ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festival. According to him, there are around 250 cattle markets across the district, and special security arrangements will be ensured at these markets. Cattle traders carrying large amounts of cash will receive police assistance upon request.

In addition, highway police and district police will jointly work to prevent robbery and mugging on highways during the Eid travel period.

At the meeting, SP Masud Alam also highlighted a strict stance on internal discipline, accountability, and service standards within the police force.

“If any police member delays in receiving complaints from victims or neglects their duties, a zero-tolerance policy will also be applied against them,” he warned.
