Fans on social media have linked the actor’s frequent use of black outfits during the tour to possible hints about MJ’s storyline. However, neither Marvel Studios nor the filmmakers have confirmed any details about the character’s fate.
Zendaya and her longtime stylist Law Roach are known for creating promotional looks that often reflect themes connected to the films she stars in.
During the tour, Zendaya wore a blue-and-red outfit in Rome, colours closely associated with Spider-Man’s iconic suit. She also appeared in a grey-blue dress featuring web-inspired patterns.
However, many of her other promotional looks featured black, a colour often associated with mourning in Western cultures. At an event in China, she wore a black Versace gown with black net detailing, despite white traditionally being linked with mourning in China and several other Asian countries.
The choices led some fans to believe MJ could die in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The theory gained further attention after Zendaya said in a recent interview: “As a fan of Peter Parker, I always want him to have a happy ending, but I don't know, guys... it's not looking good.”
