Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram. He is currently serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Narayanganj.
The appointment was made official through two separate notifications signed by Aminul Islam, Deputy Secretary of the Field Administration-2 Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration, on Thursday.
Earlier, Feni Deputy Commissioner Saiful Islam was transferred as the Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram on October 16 and joined the city on October 19. According to the notification, he will now serve as Deputy Secretary in the Shipping Ministry.
As part of a major reshuffle in field administration ahead of the national elections, the government appointed new Deputy Commissioners in 23 other districts of the country. Two notifications were issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday in this regard, while the appointments of two previously appointed DCs were canceled.
Earlier, new DCs were appointed in 29 districts. Of these, appointments in 14 districts were announced last Sunday, and in 15 more districts the day before last Saturday night. These changes have been made through transfers and administrative reshuffles.
