Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University (KU), Professor Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim, said that the youth of Bangladesh will lead the country toward a future free from discrimination.

“When inequality in the country reached its peak, the student community, just like in 1971, once again rose in 2024 to reclaim the spirit of freedom,” he said.

He made these remarks while addressing the award-giving ceremony of an inter-school speech competition titled “July Revolution: The Roar of Youth for Democracy”, held at the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy auditorium.

The VC said that the powerful voices of young people can shape a stronger and more responsible Bangladesh, and the dream of a discrimination-free future will be realized through their leadership.

Khulna Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam presided over the programme, which was organized by the July Celebration Program Committee of the Khulna District Administration.

Ayman Ahad, convener of the programme and an active member of the July Movement, delivered the welcome speech. The event was moderated by KU students Sumaiya Akter and Sharmin Sultana.

The programme began with the screening of a documentary on the July Revolution. Students from 10 schools across Khulna participated in the speech competition.

Saint Joseph’s School won first place, followed by Khulna Zilla School in second, and Navy Anchorage School & College in third.
