Police recovered the decomposed body of a youth from a ditch near his house at Shailkupa upazila on Jhenaidah on Wednesday seven days after he went missing. The deceased was identified as Ripon Hossain, 35, son of Barik Biswas of Charrupdah village under Nityanandapur union.
Locals said they saw a hand of a man dumped in the ditch near the house of Ripon Hossain and informed the matter to Hatfazilpur police out post personnel.
Senior assistant superintendent of police in Shailkupa circle Ariful Islam confirmed the matter.
He said Ripon a Malaysian expat returned home about two years back and living as a farmer. He went missing when he left the house saying staying at his ripen paddy plot near the house on December 9 evening.
Ripon’s brother-in-law filed a general diary with Shailkupa police station next day. They sent the body to Jhenaidah Sadar hospital morgue for post mortem examination.
