A nephew died in the hands of his uncle due to a dispute over property in Saltha upazila of Faridpur on Saturday night. The incident took place at Bara Balia village in Gotti union of the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Hamid Khan, 25, son of Mohiuddin Khan of Bara Balia village. The name of the accused uncle is Ayub Khan. The deceased Hamid was working as an engineer in a government project.
Habibur Rahman Lavlu, chairman of Gutti Union, said, "The dispute among them over the property has been going on for some time. Due to this, the uncle attacked his nephew with a sharp blade locally known as ‘Ramda' around 8:30 pm on Saturday.
He was rescued in critical condition and admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital. Later, when his condition deteriorated further, he died on the way to Dhaka at around 2.30 pm, he added.
Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Officer-in-Charge of Saltha Police Station, said that police went to the house in the morning and recovered the body. The body was sent to the morgue of Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy. He said a murder case would be filed up in connection to the incident.
