A younger brother was killed by his elder brother at Ghoshnagar village in Bagharpara Upzail of Jashore district on early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Ripon Hossain, 30 son of Hormuz Ali of Ghoshnagar village in Basuari union of the upazila.
Police arrested killer Biplob Hossain, 35 son of Hormuz Ali on Tuesday after the murder.
Ripon's wife Sukuran Khatun said her brother-in-law Biplob Hossain often entered the house intoxicated. He quarreled with her husband in this reason. The elder brother also beat up her husband several times.
Ripon went out to toilet around 1.00 am on Tuesday. At this time his elder brother Biplob hit Ripon's head with the handle of a tube well. Ripon fell to the ground. Family members took him to the Upazila Health Complex at night. But the doctor on duty declared him dead.
Shah Alam Rubel, a doctor on duty at the Upazila Health Complex, said Ripon was brought to the hospital around 1.20 am in the night. He died on the way of hospital.
Bagharpara Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Rusel Sarwar said the accused Biplob Hossain was arrested from nearby Jamalpur village on Tuesday morning. A case was filed in this connection. The body was sent to Jashore General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
