Youth held with Yaba tablets in Ukhiya

A youth was arrested with 90 Yaba tablets during a routine operation by Cox’s Bazar Battalion (34 BGB) at Rejukhal checkpoint on Sunday.

At approximately 9:45 AM, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) stopped a CNG auto-rickshaw travelling from Sonarpara towards Cox’s Bazar and detained Md. Belal, son of Shamsul Alam from Deil Para village in Inani, Jaliapalong Union, Ukhiya.

According to BGB, the yaba pills were found in the left pocket of Belal’s trousers. A mobile phone, allegedly used in drug trafficking, was also seized.

Legal procedures are underway to hand Belal over to police along with the drugs and seized items.

Lieutenant Colonel S.M. Khairul Alam, PSC, commanding officer of BGB-34, stated that regular operations will continue in border areas to combat drug smuggling and ensure public safety and peace.
