Police in Munshiganj arrested an armed youth with a revolver, bullets, and 70 yaba pills following a dramatic incident near Rampal College on Sunday.
The suspect, Sabbir Hossain alias Dipu (29), pulled out a revolver and opened fire after a collision between his private car and an auto-rickshaw during the college’s HSC exam dispersal.
Hatimara Investigation Center police intervened quickly, and after a scuffle, managed to detain him despite being fired upon. Three officers ASI Emdad Hossain, Constable Robiul, and Constable Sazedul sustained minor injuries.
Recovered items include a revolver, two live rounds, three spent shells, and 70 yaba pills. Two accomplices, Mukul (33) and Shahadat Hossain (34), fled the scene.
Locals assaulted the suspect and vandalized the vehicle before police brought the situation under control. Dipu, who has multiple prior cases, is now in custody. Separate cases are being filed.
