A nine grade student was abducted and raped in Arenda village under Sador Upazila of Jashore District on Sunday.
Police have arrested a young man named Rezaul Haji on charges of rape and at the same time rescued the abducted victim student.
The rapist Rezaul Haji 35 was identified as son of late Moti Haji of Morgar Matha area of Erenda village in Sadar upazila. The mother of the student filed a case with the Jashore Kotwali Model Police Station on September 13.
The victim’s mother said that her daughter was a student of Class nine in Durgapur Madrasa. On the way to madrasa, accused Rezaul Haji made various evil proposals including marriage. Rezaul Haji currently has a wife. Her daughter did not agree to Rezaul's proposal. As a result, Rezaul started looking for opportunities to harm her including abduction.
On September 13, at around 2.30 pm, while the girl was going to her neighbor’s house, Rezaul, and his four associates were lying in ambush beside there and abducted her with two motorcycles and took her to Natunhat village.
The girl was kept in the house of accused Rezaul and was raped there.
Police arrested accused Rezaul on September 14 and was sent to jail through the court.
The medical examination of the girl has been completed at Jashore General Hospital.
