Police detained a youth who is accused in the killing of schoolgirl of Kholabaria village under Panchuria union of Rajbari Sadar upazila.
Police detained the accused from Khankhanapur area. The detainee is Shetu, 24, son of Bablu of the same village. Swapan Kumar Majumder, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rajbari Sadar Police Station, said that a young man was detained in this connection. “We are trying to arrest the other accused,” he said.
On June 6, some miscreants wearing burkah picked up the schoolgirl from her house and brought her in a jute field where they tried to kill her by setting fire. As the victim’s family noticed the matter, they rushed to the spot and the miscreants ran away from the place. On Saturday morning, the victim’s father filed a case with Rajbari Sadar Police Station accusing Shilpi Begum, their neighbor, and four others.
