Youth held over killing of Bagerhat trader

Police have arrested Hasib Sardar (22) for killing a businessman by slitting his throat while he was going to perform prayers at Morelganj in Bagerhat.

Morelganj police arrested Hasib from Sadar police station area of Kachua upazila on Thursday (August 13) at noon.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hasib and his accomplices killed betel trader Mofizul Islam Sardar while he was going to the mosque to perform Margib prayers.

Arrested Hasib Sardar was identified as the son of Lokman Sardar of Kumarkhali village in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat.

Morelganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Azizul Islam said, "After hearing the news of the murder on Wednesday evening, we recovered the body from the area and sent it 

to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy." 

Talking to the locals and relatives of the deceased, he became sure about the killer. Several teams of Morelganj police launched raids in different areas at night to arrest Hasib.

At one stage at noon they were able to arrest Hasib from the police station area of Kachua Upazila Sadar. 

He is being interrogated at the police station.  Police were trying to find out if anyone else was involved in the murder.
