Police arrested a youth on Tuesday night from Shyamnagar upazila of Shatkhira in connection to an attempted rape case filed with Shaymnagar Police Station.
The arrestee was identified as Rabiul Islam, 26, son of Satta Gazi of Hajoipur village of Noornagar union. Sub-Inspector Khabir Hossain arrested him. The father of the victim filed the attempt to rape case with Shyamnagar police station.
The investigating officer of the case, Khobir Hossain said that Rabiul often used to tease the child. On February 9, Rabiul tried to rape the child in Ramjivanpur village. The screams of the victim child alerted the neighbors. When the neighbours came to rescue the child, Robiul quickly escaped.
Shyamnagar Police Station OC Nazmul Huda confirming the news said the child was sent to Satkhira for medical check-up and Robiul was sent to jail by the court.
