Unidentified miscreants hacked a youth to death in broad daylight in Dakkhin Jamshing area in Savar, on the outskirts of capital Dhaka, on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Md Milon, 20, son of Fazlul Haque of Dakkhin Jamshing. Locals said the incident took place around 12pm while Milon was working on his vegetable field. They saw two youth on the run left someone on the spot and then forward after hearing screams. Tonima Akhter Mim, 18, wife of the deceased, said Milon and his friend Emon took leased the piece of land next to their house to cultivate vegetables.
Suruz threatened Milon over phone on Wednesday night. “We suspect Suruz might have involved in the murder,” she added.
According to locals, Milon is involved in criminal activities including drug dealing. He was named in a murder case, police said.
Islam, Inspector (Investigation) of Savar model police station told the Bangladesh Post, police recovered the body and sent it to Shahid Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Process was on to file a lawsuit in this connection, he added.
