A Chattogram court here on Sunday sentenced a young man to life term imprisonment for trading drug in Chattogram in 2020.
The Court of Chattogram 5th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Nargis Akter awarded to life term imprisonment to Md Ayas, 23, for trading drugs.
The victim, son of Md Abul Kalam, hailed from ward number-2 in Cox’s Bazar Municipality in Cox's Bazar district.
The court also fined Tk 10,000, in default, he will have to suffer more six months of imprisonment for the same.
According to the prosecution story, acting on a tip-off, a team of the Department of Narcotics Control detained the drug trader Md Ayas with 24,000 pieces Yaba from city’s one-kilometer area under Chandgaon thana on May 4, 2020.

Police submitted the charge sheet before the court on July 28 in 2020 while the court framed Charges against him on March 6, 2022.
The court announced the verdict in presence of the convicted person after examining a total of six prosecution witnesses out of 10.
