A trial court in Naogaon district on Sunday convicted a person and sentenced him to seven years behind the bar on charge of his involvement in cyber crimes in Naogaon district around five and half years back.

The court also fined the convict, Abdul Matin alias Shubho, 24, son of Motaleb Mollah of Chalkprasad Mollapara village in Naogaon Sadar Upazila, Taka one lakh, in default, to suffer three months more jail.

Rajshahi Divisional Cyber Tribunal Judge Ziaur Rahman found the accused guilty of the charge and handed down the verdict in absence of the convict.  Public Prosecutor of the tribunal Ismat Ara told the journalists that Shahidul Islam, a resident of Pujail village under Raninagar Upazila of Naogaon, had lodged a case with the police station concerned against Shubho related to his involvement in cyber crimes on July 7, 2016.

Upon completion of investigation police pressed charges accusing him. After examining recorded depositions of nine prosecution witnesses and other relevant evidence the tribunal pronounced the verdict.
