The police recovered the body of a young man from Professor Para village at Bheramara in Kushtia on Tuesday.
The deceased is Tushar Mondol Jeem, 23, son of Fazlur Rahman, a resident of the village at the upazila.
Quoting local people, Bheramara police station officer-in-charge Rofiqul Islam said that Tushar went outside from his house on Tuesday evening and he did not return home.
He had been missing since then.
Local people found Tushar’s body lying on the ground of a building and informed the police.
A team of police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination.
A group of assailants might have killed Tushar with a sharp weapon, the police officer said, adding that the miscreants left the place after leaving his body in a pool of blood.
The police are investigating the incident and legal action will be taken against those found involved in the incident, the OC also said.
