A young man has died tragically after being struck by a train in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar.
The incident occurred at around 10:30am on Friday in front of Mansur Ali Sikder Ideal High School, located along the Cox’s Bazar–Dhaka railway line in the Rajarkul Union of Ramu Upazila.
The deceased, Mohammad Monsur (24), was the son of Fayez Ahmed from Nayapara in Ward 5 of Rajarkul Union.
Speaking to local reporters, Rajarkul Union Parishad Chairman Mufizur Rahman said that the Dhaka-bound Probal Express, which had departed from the Cox’s Bazar Iconic Railway Station earlier in the morning, ran over the young man. He died instantly after being severed by the wheels of the train.
“Mohammad Monsur’s body was completely dismembered in the accident. He leaves behind a son and a daughter,” the chairman added.
It remains unclear how the accident took place at the moment the train approached.
Ramu Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Arif Hossain confirmed the incident, stating that a police team immediately visited the scene. Railway Police have been informed to initiate further action.
The body has been recovered and sent to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
