Tanvir Iftekhar Dihan, the accused of raping and murdering a schoolgirl in capital’s Kalabagan area, has confessed to committing the crimes before a Dhaka court.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid recorded his statement on Friday under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure after police produced him before the court.
The court sent Dihan, 18, to jail.
Earlier, father of the 17-year of victim, an O level student of Mastermind School, filed the case with the Kalabagan Police Station.
According to the case statement, Dihan called and took the girl to his Lake Circus Road flat and raped her there on January 7. As the girl fell sick due to rape, Dihan along with his friends took her to nearby Anwar Khan Modern Hospital, where the duty doctors proclaimed her dead. The hospital authorities handed Dihan over to police, who late, arrested three of his friends from the hospital.
Conscious citizens demanded that the detailed identities of the accused family, including his father, be exposed before the people for the crimes he committed.
