A young girl, Tahura Sultana Rekha, has been given the opportunity to go trekking to a Himalayan mountain base camp in Nepal with Nishat Mazumder, the first Bangladeshi woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Tahura bagged the opportunity after she won the ‘Trek with Nishat’ competition, said a press release by travel group Avijatry, which organised the competition.
She will receive mentorship from Nishat for the next one year, starting with their journey to the base camp of a Himalayan mountain on October 31.
The ‘Trek with Nishat’ initiative was launched in 2022 to inspire girls aged between 18 and 25, who have never climbed a mountain before, to become mountaineers.
