Kazi Md. Jahirul Islam is a promising young photographer from Bangladesh. He was a graduate student of International Islamic University Chittagong.
He has been nominated for many national and international awards and won several photographic competitions. But instead of using that money to upgrade his equipment, Jahirul who currently lives in Chittagong, has donated his prize money to help the impoverished & underprivileged children. His journey of helping underprivileged children was started when he won several awards for one of his photo of a littled "Blooming Flower and Blooming Mind". This photo was awarded in various photo contests such as in 'AkshayaPatra Click a Smile 2015 Photography Contest', 'Freedom Photo Competition 2016' & so on.
After receiving too many prizes, he did not have to think twice about handing over his prize money to that boy. Describing the story behind the shot, Jahirul said "One day in my village I noticed that some indigent boys were playing in the swamp. One of them was smiling with some flowers in his hands. I took many shots, but this one touched me the most—the warmest smile in that place. That was very popular photo among all of my photos.
Last year he won 2nd prize in the China-Bangladesh International photo contest and won the Doha youth photography award from Qatar. Recently he got 1st prize in world water day photo competition and also shortlisted photographer for "Dhaka OIC Youth Capital 2020-21 Bangabandhu Youth Art Competition ''. His photographs have been published in many international magazines such as “Where the Leaves Fall” magazine in London and 'Photographic Merecadillo' in Portugal, XXZmagazine in Serbia.
Jahirul's aim is to find himself in every corner of photography till the end of his life and to do something better in the future with the help of photography. In the future this young photographer desires to have a higher degree from abroad.
