A young man was shot to death by a group of miscreants in Gobarchaka area under Sonadanga police station in Khulna city.
The deceased, Emon Sheikh, son of Sanwar Hossain of the area was a painter by profession.
Eyewitnesses said that Emon was standing in front of Mohammad Kha area of Talukdar Lane of the area at about 7:00pm on Thursday evening.
Suddenly, a group of unidentified miscreants in five or six motorbikes opened fire on Emon, leaving him seriously injured.
Locals rescued him and admitted him to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at about 8:00pm.
Sonadanga Police Station officer-in-charge Momtazul Haque said that efforts were on to arrest the suspected murderers.
