Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-7 conducted a raid in ghat no. 15 area of Patenga Police Station in Chattogram city and recovered 182,400 pieces of yaba pills worth around Tk 5 crore 50 lakh. Five people were arrested in the incident.
On Thursday morning, RAB members conducted a raid in Ghat No. 15 area of Patenga Police Station on the Karnapuli River and went to the middle of the river in a speedboat and searched the bulkhead.

This was confirmed by RAB-7 Chittagong commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Hafizur Rahman. He said that based on secret information, they came to know that a huge quantity of yaba pills were being brought to Chittagong city by sea in a bulkhead. Upon receiving the information, an expeditionary team of RAB-7 monitored the movement of the bulkhead.
Later, a search was conducted in the engine room of the bulkhead and 182,400 pieces of Yaba were recovered from two plastic drums. The estimated market value of the recovered Yaba is around 55 million taka.
The arrested persons are - Md. Imran (21), Md. Anis (29), Md. Monir Hossain (45), Md. Ali (47) and Md. Rubel (27).
RAB said that during initial interrogation, the arrested persons said that on Wednesday at around 3 am, they took a bulkhead and took a position in the sea adjacent to the SS Power Plant located in the Gandamara area. Later, a speedboat came and put a sack in the bulkhead. If the sack could be delivered to Chittagong city, each person was supposed to be paid 15,000 taka.
