Yaba is now being produced in Faridpur of Bangladesh. Usually Yaba tablets are secretly smuggled into the country from Myanmar. The news of Yaba being produced in Bangladesh was hardly reported till now.
Faridpur Kotoali Police Station members seized four dice machines and various equipment used for making Yaba, from Raghunandanpur area of Faridpur on Tuesday night.
Police detained four people including two women in a raid along with the equipment and 220 pieces of Yaba from the house of Nurul Islam at Islam Manjil in Pattadarkandi area of Raghunandanpur.
The detainees are Obidur Sheikh, son of the Mannan Sheikh of Dighalkanda village of Bhanga upazila of Faridpur, Anisur Rahman and Happy Begum of Fibalia village of Nagarkanda police station and Juli Khatun of Dhanuaghata village of Atikula police station of Pabna district.
Faridpur Superintendent of Police Md. Alimuzzaman said the detainees were living as tenants in Nurul Islam’s house. Based on secret news police detained those four people involved in producing and trading Yaba. At the time, they found Yaba tablets and tools for producing Yaba, searching their residence. Among the four Obaidul had drug case lodged against him under Bhanga Police Station.
