Basan Metro Police recovered a large amount of counterfeit money and Yaba tablets from a two-storey flat in Barbaika area under Basan Metro Police Station in Gazipur.
The information was given during a press briefing on Monday noon by AKM Ahsan Habib, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sadar Zone of Gazipur.
It is believed that the fraudulent circle is trying to spread these illegal counterfeit notes ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.
SI Lebu Mia along with the accompanying force recovered drugs, warrants and illegal weapons while on duty at Chandna Crossroads on Sunday and found out about the counterfeit notes, he added.
SI Lebu Mia immediately informed the higher authorities and when the force arrived at the spot, sensing the presence of the police, the accused Russell and Tisha fled away.
He further said, that efforts are being made to arrest the fugitives. They are also investigating all the issues, he added.
