West Zone Power Distribution Company Ltd (WZPDCL) celebrated the 50th Victory Day with due dignity on Thursday.
WZPDCL started the day’s programme by hoisting the national flag at sunrise in all the office buildings under WZPDCL to mark the golden jubilee of independence and Victory Day 2021. WZPDCL’s Managing Director Engineer Md Azharul Islam laid a wreath at the Gallamari Martyrs Memorial in the morning following the health rules. A discussion meeting titled 'Achieving national prosperity through the best use of digital technology and holding the spirit of liberation war in building the golden Bengal (Shonar Bangla) of the dream of the Father of the Nation' was held virtually.
The virtual meeting was chaired by Md Mostafizur Rahman, Chief Engineer, Energy, System Control and Services. Engineer Md Azharul Islam, was present as the chief guest and Executive Director (Finance) Ratan Kumar Debnath FCMA and Executive Director (Engineering) Md Abu Hasan were present as special guests.
Officials, including all WZPDCL department heads, attended the virtual meeting. Mohammad Nazmul Huda, Manager (Administration) and Faria Haque Pusp, Assistant Engineer moderated the meeting. Md Azharul Islam, at the beginning of his speech as the chief guest, remembered the great architect of independence, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He said, “We have got an independent and sovereign Bangladesh by defeating the Pakistani forces at the cost of the lives of three million martyrs and fearless freedom fighters.”
He further said that under the leadership of the present government and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, there is no load shedding in the country at present. “Our goal is to provide hundred percent electricity and more modern services,” he added. Special prayers were organized in all the mosques of WZPDCL following the rules of hygiene, praying for the forgiveness of the departed souls of the martyred heroic freedom fighters and for the health of the war wounded heroic freedom fighters and peace, prosperity and progress of the country.
