World Vision’s ‘Cash for Work’ help for Teknaf people

On 12 April, World Vision Bangladesh has handed over its 17 ‘Cash for Work’ schemes such as road renovation, canal and drain re-excavation to Hnila Union Parishad Chairman and members of Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar in the handing over ceremony.

Emergency Food Security Programme (EFSP) of World Vision Bangladesh has implemented these schemes with financial support from USAID.

Around 100 participants including Union chairman, UP members and beneficiaries of 9 wards of Hnila UP were present in the handover ceremony organized at Hnila Chowdhury Para Burmese Primary School cum Cyclone Shelter, Hnila, Teknaf.

Under the EFSP program, World Vision has renovated 4.43 kilometer road and 1.29 kilometer drain, re-excavated 0.91 kilometer canal, constructed 0.5 kilometer landslide protection slope and completed 1266 square meter Ground Rising in Hnila Union. Around 11,000 community people living in this area are benefitted a lot. People including children can now go to different places and school with comfort.

During the handing over ceremony, UP Chairman Rashed Mahmud Ali says, World Vision brought significant changes and opportunities to these communities. Health, education and agriculture sector could grew as road renovation, canal re-xxcavation and drain renovation has done. Involvement of local people in CFW brought economic security in many poor families. Moreover, landslide protection slope and ground raising work helps people to fight against climate change.

Local government representatives and beneficiaries have expressed their gratitude and thanks to World Vision Bangladesh and USAID for these contribution.
