World Vision’s cash assistance to 5,229 people in Ukhia-Teknaf

World Vision Bangladesh has unconditionally distributed Tk 4,500 per person among 5,229 beneficiaries of Ukhia-Teknaf in Cox's Bazar under the Emergency Food Security Project. The money was distributed among the locals affected by the Kovid and Rohingyas in the UkhiaUpazilaParishad Hall room on Wednesday (August 11th) noon.

Of these, 3445 people from 3 unions of Ukhia upazila (Rajapalang, Palangkhali and Jaliapalang) and 184 people from 2 unions of Teknaf (Baharchhara and Hnila) were given Tk 2 crore 35 lakh 30 thousand 500 in cash. Earlier in 2020, 8 crore 5 lakh 91 thousand 500 rupees was distributed to those families.

 World Vision Bangladesh Cox's Bazar office director of the Rohingya Crisis Response. Ukhia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nizam Uddin Ahmed, who was the chief guest at the meeting chaired by Frederick Christopher, handed over cash among the listed beneficiaries.

 At the time, the UNO said, various assistances were provided to 6300 families in Ukhia upazila in the event of corona epidemic and recent floods. Meanwhile, a number of non-governmental organizations, including World Vision, were on hand. During this time of disaster, World Vision Bangladesh's continued cash assistance will play a vital role in improving people's lives.

World Vision Response Director. Frederick Christopher said it was important to adhere to the three principles of "saving, investing and spending wisely" in poverty alleviation. Otherwise, overall financial development is not possible. He thanked the Government of Bangladesh including the Upazila Administrative Officer for their unwavering support in the activities of World Vision Bangladesh.

Special guest speakers were Ahmed Sanjur Morshed, Officer-in-Charge of Ukhia Police Station, Md. Anwarul Haque, Former Joint Secretary and Govt. Relation Advisor of World Vision Bangladesh, and Md. Salim Ullah, Upazila Cooperative Officer.

 Beneficiaries Razia Begum, Ziaur Rahman and a few others said that the prosperity of the family is coming by cultivating vegetables, raising chickens, goats and running small businesses with the financial help of World Vision.

‘With the money received from this project, raising ducks, chickens, goats have made possible the financial improvement of the family. We have also been able to meet the nutritional needs of the children, ”said the beneficiaries of the project.

Atul Drong, Head, Program Quality Department, presented various activities of World Vision Bangladesh in Cox's Bazar district. Welcoming remarks were made by Ryan Zaminik Balaso, Deputy Chief of Party of the Emergency Food Security Program. The program was conducted by Nutrition Officer Musarrat Maryam.
