World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day-2023 was celebrated on Monday in Barguna district as elsewhere in the country and the globe. This year's theme was 'We do everything sincerely'.

This day is an annual celebration of the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

On the occasion of the day, a colorful rally was brought out from the Red Crescent office of the district which paraded the important streets and ended at the same place on Monday morning.

The World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is celebrated on May 8 each year. The date is the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant (born on 8th May 1828), the founder of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize. To commemorate this great man with reverence, his birthday is celebrated all over the world every year as World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.

The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) celebrates the day with due importance and dignity like other national societies in the world.

Chairman of Barguna district Red Crescent unit Jahangir Kabir and its Secretary Advocate Abdul Motaleb inaugurated the day by hoisting the national flag and the Red Crescent flag at the Red Crescent Bidyaniketan school grounds this morning.
