Bangladesh Red Crescent Society’s Chittagong unit on Friday celebrated the 'World Red Cross and Red Crescent' Day. Marking the day, a programme was at Jamieson Red Crescent Hospital in Anderkilla, followed by distributing foods.
Presided over by Society Managing Board Member Chittagong Center & Red Crescent Unit Vice Chairman Dr Sheikh Safiul Alam, Chairman of Chittagong City Red Crescent Unit & Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin was present as the chief guest at the function.
The Mayor said that Red Cross works around the world to put a smile on people's faces and contribute to humanity to build a beautiful world.
It stands the people affected by all the natural calamities of the country including cyclones, floods, earthquakes, landslides and fires, he added.
Crescent Unit Chairman Abdul Jabbar, Chittagong City Red Crescent Unit Secretary Nurul Alam Chowdhury Bahar, Chittagong City Red Crescent Unit members HM Salauddin, Safkat Jahan, Mohsin Uddin Chowdhury Faisal, Anwar Alam, Ismail Haque Chowdhury, Red Crescent Chittagong District Unit Level Officer Abdur Rashid Khan, Yahiya Bakhtiyar were present on the occasion.
