Speakers at a meeting on World Press Freedom Day on Wednesday said consciousness should be created among the journalists for covering news.
They said journalists should be sincere in covering objective news. They also laid emphasis avoiding motivational news so that no one becomes harmed by it. To mark the day, Online Journalist Network of the district arranged the discussion at its office room in the town with its president Zahangir Selim in the chair.
Secretary of Online Journalist Network Rajonya Ruhany conducted the discussion.
Senior Journalist Mostafa Babul, Vice-president of Online Journalist Network Md Mukhlesur Rahman, Somoy TV reporter Jahangir Alam, Member of Online Journalist Network Abdul Aziz and Reporter Somoyer Alo Mustafizur Rahman spoke, among others, at the meeting.
The participants also stood one-minute silence paying tribute to the journalists, who were killed to perform their professional duties across the world.
