World premiere of ‘Mujib Amar Pita’ held in NY

The world premiere of Bangladesh's first animated film titled ‘Mujib Amar Pita’ (Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is my father) based on the book; "Sheikh Mujib Amar Pita" authored by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was held at the Bombay Theater in Queens, New York on Sunday May 8. 

The full-fledged 2D film is directed by Sohel Mohammad Rana on the life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of the nation. For the first time the film was screened abroad after its release in Bangladesh.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division made the animation film to spread the heroic and successful story of Bangabandhu to the new generation across the globe. 

The protesting teenager from Tungipara one day became a symbol of hope and aspiration of the people of a country, a dreamer of freedom, a great hero of history. A step forward on the path of great struggle; The film also shows 1952’s language movement. 

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque was present at the programme as the chief guest while State Minister for Information and Communication Technology ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present as the special guest. Lawmakers Md Nurul Amin, Aparajita Haque, and Nahid Izhar Khan were also present at the premiere of the film in New York.

Bangladesh Consul General in New York Dr Mohammad Monirul Islam, moderated the function while Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations Ambassador Rabab Fatima, and Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Bikarno Kumar Ghose were also present.      A large number of expatriates gathered at the Bombay Theater in Queens to watch the film based on the writings of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

Regarding the context State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak said, “We have screened this movie in different halls of Bangladesh. This time we have organised the world premiere in New York to present Bangabandhu's life philosophy and political ideology in the world court. 

Talking about making another film on Bangabandhu's ‘Oshomapto Attojiboni’ unfinished autobiography, the ICT state minister further added, 'I am making a game along with a movie about the liberation war. As a result, it is possible to highlight the potential of Bangladesh in the gaming and animation market.

Sohel Mohammad Rana directed the film which will later be screened in various cities in the United States, said the ICT Division.
