World Food Day observed at CVASU

Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (CVASU) celebrated World Food Day 2025 on Thursday with a series of vibrant events, organised by the Faculty of Food Science and Technology. This year’s global theme was “Hand in Hand, Towards Good Food and a Better Future.”

The celebration began in the morning with a colourful rally held on the university campus. The procession was led by CVASU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Lutfur Rahman and included participation from university teachers, officers, students, and staff.

Following the rally, a ceremonial cake was cut in front of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology building to mark the occasion. Later, a Food Exhibition showcasing various healthy and innovative food items was organised in front of the CVASU Auditorium.

The main programme featured a discussion meeting and an e-poster competition. Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohammad Lutfur Rahman attended the event as chief guest. Professor Dr Ferdousi Akhtar, Dean of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, presided over the session.

Special guests included Professor Dr Sheikh Ahmad Al Nahid, Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries; Professor Gautam Kumar Debnath, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Md Ruhul Amin, Director of Banga Flavor and Fragrance (Pvt) Ltd.; and Anselm L. Martin, Head of Business Development.

A keynote presentation was delivered by Dr Abdul Matin, Associate Professor of the Department of Food Processing and Engineering, focusing on the significance of this year’s World Food Day theme.

Prizes and certificates were distributed among the winners of the ‘Healthy Meal for a Better Future’ and E-Poster competitions, which aimed to promote awareness of healthy eating habits and sustainable food systems.
