World Egg Day 2024 was observed in Chuadanga on Friday with the slogan ‘Egg gives nutrition, egg gives strength, egg saves us from diseases.’
A colorful rally and a discussion were held on this occasion. The rally was brought out from district Department of Livestock Services office at 10:00am on Friday. It paraded through the college road of the town and ended at the Department of Livestock Services office again.
Later, a discussion was held at the conference room of Department of Livestock Services office. District Livestock Officer Dr Md Shahabuddin presided over the meeting. Veterinary Surgeon Md Nazmul Hasan Shawon moderated the meeting.
Alamdanga upazila Livestock Officer Dr Md Abdullahil Kafi delivered the welcome speech. Sadar upailza Veterinary Surgeon Dr Nur Mohammad, manager of Navana Pharmaceuticals Mostak Ahmed, journalists Advocate Rafiqul Islam, Islam Rakib, farmer Jasmine Ara and Mohammad Ziku spoke at the discussion.
During the discussion, District Livestock Officer Dr Md Shahabuddin said eggs have many nutritional benefits. The price of eggs is rising. The government, livestock officials, and farmers need to play a more responsible role to bring the price of eggs to an affordable level. Eggs are called superfood. In our country, a person consumes between 104 to 143 eggs each year. It must be ensured that eggs are safe. Organic eggs are available in supermarkets. We must move away from excessive use of antibiotics. Eggs must be made affordable for people with the effort of everyone.
